The Diagnostic Indicators
The
Fibre
Options links include three types of diagnostic
indicators. These LEDs take the guesswork out of troubleshooting
your system.
Video
signal indicators monitor the presence of valid
video signals. They are connected to the input or output of
a video channel. When a valid signal is being received,
these LEDs will glow green. If the incoming video
drops below 40 IRE (standard sync level), they will turn red,
suggesting that either a camera is off or inoperative, or
that the coaxial cable from the camera to the module is
defective.
Audio
signal indicators monitor audio levels. These
LEDs glow green for normal audio levels, but
switch to red if the audio reaches the limit of the
available headroom. Occasional red peaks are normal, but a
steady red indicates a potential overload condition
(clipping).
Level/LossTM indicators provide
an indication of received optical power, or light level.
They are found on both receivers and transceivers, including
two-way systems. This LED will glow in varying intensities
of green providing a subjective indication of the amount of
optical power received. Any amount of green, from barely
visible to bright, indicates that sufficient light is at the
receiving end.
A red
Level/Loss LED indicates optical power is not being
received, suggesting that the fibre is damaged,
disconnected, or that the attenuation in the overall fibre
path is exceeding the maximum attenuation specified for the
unit.
